The British–Yemeni Society in colaboration with the MBI Al Jaber Foundation invite you to a screening of "Starving Yemen" and "Funeral Bombing" by the Yemeni journalist Nawal al-Maghafi. The event will take place on Thursday 23 March 2017, at 17.45 at the MBI Al Jaber building, London Middle East Institute at SOAS (LMEI), 21 Russell Square, London WC1B 5EA.
Nawal Al-Maghafi is a BBC Reporter/Film Director who specialises in the Middle East with a main focus on Yemen. She has reported extensively from Yemen during the past six years and her most recent production, “The Funeral Bombing”, investigates an attack on a funeral in that war torn country. Nawal travels from areas held under rebel control to areas under government control to identify who was responsible for this deadly attack – the deadliest in Yemen’s 21-month conflict. Her earlier film “Starving Yemen”, produced for the BBC, was the first piece to document the country’s unfolding humanitarian catastrophe.
